U.S. Ambassador guest at the Parliamentary breakfast of the Deutsche Maritime Akademie
On 25 April the Deutsche Maritime Akademie (German Maritime Academy), founded by the Deutscher Marinebund (German Naval Association) had invited Members of Parliament and representatives of the business and the federal ministries for a breakfast meeting at the Bundestag, the German Federal Parliament. Guest of honour was the Ambassador of the United States of America, Philip D. Murphy, who spoke on the topic "The transatlantic cooperation after the re-election of President Obama." He pointed out to a large audience that the U.S. despite a stronger advertence on the Pacific still see a major focus of their interests in Europe and thus the "transatlantic bridge" has not lost weight from the perspective of the U.S. Administrative. His speech was followed by a lively discussion.

The event was conducted under the auspices of Karin Evers-Meyer, MdB (Member of the Bundestag) in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany.

Following a meeting of the German Maritime Academy Advisory Board took place. The Board advises the Board of Trustees and makes recommendations for the work of the German Maritime Academy. Dr. Michael Frehse, of the Federal Ministry of Interior, was elected spokesperson and Karin Evers-Meyer, MdB, was elected deputy spokesperson.

In the future a series of events to the DMA maritime topics with prominent speakers will take place on a regular basis in the premises of the German Bundestag.
